Lotte Chilsung Brings Back Captain Q Liquor Brand After 11-Year Hiatus
Aged in Bourbon and PX Sherry Casks… Limited-Edition “Treasure Chest” Gift Set Also Unveiled

Lotte Chilsung is bringing back Captain Q, its liquor brand first launched in 1980, after an 11-year hiatus following its discontinuation in 2015.
A popular brand that helped bring liquor to the mass market in the 1980s and 1990s, Captain Q sold 10 million bottles within its first year. In 1985, the company also introduced a 180-milliliter pocket-size version designed for portability.
The relaunched product is made with Caribbean rum. It is aged first in bourbon casks and then finished in Pedro Ximénez(PX) sherry casks. The product comes in a 360-milliliter bottle with an alcohol by volume(ABV) of 35%. Its original bottle shape and signature deep-green color have been retained to preserve the brand’s identity.
To mark the relaunch, Lotte Chilsung is also introducing a limited-edition Captain Q “Treasure Chest” gift set. Built around the concept of Captain Q returning from an 11-year voyage with 1,980 treasures, each set contains two bottles, a dedicated stainless-steel drinking glass and a commemorative coin. A total of 12,000 sets will be available, including 1,980 sets containing a solid-silver commemorative coin weighing approximately 1.5 don(about 5.6 grams). The remaining sets will include replica coins, adding an element of surprise to the unboxing experience. The gift set will be available at major supermarkets and convenience stores.
