SoolTimes treats your personal information as important, and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilisation and Information Protection. This policy explains how we protect and handle the personal information of members who use our services.

Article 1 (What we collect, and how)

We collect only the minimum personal information needed to provide the Service.

1. What we collect

  • On sign-up: name, email address, password.
  • Collected automatically while you use the Service: IP address, cookies, visit history.
  • When you contact us: name, email address, the content of your enquiry.

  • Entered by the member at sign-up.
  • Collected automatically while the Service is used.

Article 2 (Why we collect and use it)

We collect and use personal information for the following purposes.

  • Member management — verifying identity and distinguishing individuals for membership services.
  • Providing the Service — delivering content and tailored services.
  • Handling enquiries — answering and resolving what you ask us.
  • Improving the Service — analysing usage records and compiling statistics.

Article 3 (How long we keep it)

As a rule we destroy personal information without delay once the purpose of collection and use has been achieved. Where the law requires us to keep records for a set period, those periods are:

  • Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce — records of contracts and withdrawal of offers: 5 years.
  • Protection of Communications Secrets Act — service usage records: 3 months.

Article 4 (How we destroy it)

As a rule we destroy personal information without delay once its purpose has been achieved.

  • Procedure — information entered by a member is moved to a separate database once its purpose is achieved, kept for the period required by our internal policy and the applicable laws, and then destroyed.
  • Method — personal information stored as electronic files is deleted using a technical method that leaves the records unrecoverable.

Article 5 (Providing it to third parties)

As a rule we do not provide your personal information to third parties. We do so only where you have consented in advance, or where the law requires it and the prescribed procedure is followed.

Article 6 (Entrusting the handling of personal information)

Where necessary to improve the Service, we may entrust the handling of personal information to an outside specialist. In that case the contract sets out what is needed to keep the information safe.

Article 7 (Your rights and how to exercise them)

You may view or correct your registered personal information at any time, and you may ask to close your account.

  • Viewing and correcting — directly, through the personal information menu within the Service.
  • Closing your account — at any time, through the withdrawal function within the Service.

Article 8 (Keeping it safe)

We take the following measures to keep personal information safe.

  • Administrative — establishing and carrying out an internal management plan, training staff.
  • Technical — encrypting personal information, controlling access.
  • Physical — controlling access to server rooms and document stores.
